After watching this video I am even at a greater loss for where to find products Made in America. Shame on me for assuming that Whole Foods was looking out for its customer's best interests.
Does it honestly cost less to ship frozen food product on a barge from China than it would to have it driven from any of the millions of farms in the U.S.?
And how hard would it be for me to find a local farmers market where I *know* the product is organic because of the self policing nature of farmers markets. Or are they even worse than big organic chain stores like Whole Foods?

Have you read any of Michael Pollan's books? (http://www.michaelpollan.com/write.php) His 'Omnivore's Dilemma' is a 'must' for anyone in the least bit interested in what they eat, and 'In Defence of Food' is a wake-up call to everyone thinking that 'organic' (or any other such label) is the way to enjoy eating. Read the comments posted on the Amazon web-pages, to see that I'm not alone in seeing a possible end to feedlot farming, ocean-stripping fisheries and other resource depleting techniques for providing us with 'nutrients'.
Also, keep a watchful eye on what happens to the FDA as more and more people start to realise what a gum-tree they have erected and directed us to climb. It's all a bit 'corny' HS |
