I finally decided to make an El Grande pen and quickly realized that I didn’t have any ‘perfect’ way to trim the barrel so that I could ensure a square fit after I assembled the pen. The first one I made looked pretty nice but the fittings had gaps between them and the acrylic parts.
After spending about 2 hours at Home Depot looking around for some ‘off the shelf’ parts to use as a sleeve I realized I needed another solution.
Here is my method for making a sleeve to use as a ‘buffer’ for your pen mill for pen kits that have oversized tubes that need trimming.
